25th Year in Design Journey

Having left her mark with numerous architectural masterpieces, industrial products, and sculptures, and being a multidisciplinary creative who has garnered numerous international awards, Şebnem Buhara celebrated the first anniversary of her design career milestone with a special event at the Paris Maison&Objet Fair, where she presented her new collection prepared in honor of this occasion. Buhara, with her collection named ‘An Epiphany in Sustainable Delight’ prepared for the 25th Year in Design honor and her BOU Design Studio, of which she is the founder, showcased her products at the Maison&Objet Fair, one of the world’s most prestigious design exhibitions, in the ‘Signature’ section.

Sharing the joy of the new collection and the 25th Year at her stand during the fair, Buhara hosted a cocktail reception attended by a select group of industry professionals, including local and foreign architects, designers, brand owners, and press representatives. She announced that celebrations for the ‘silver anniversary’ would continue with various events throughout the year 2024.

Architect and designer Şebnem Buhara was also included in the jury committe of 6 people selected to determine the 2024 finalists of the ‘CREATIVE COLOR AWARDS’ competitions initiated with its affiliated NIPSEA Group by Nippon Paint that the company’s roots date back to 1881, and in 1898 it was branded as Nippon Paint Manufacturing, and finally in 1927 it became an international paint brand under its current name.

‘The colors that surround us can make a difference in our lives. With these awards, the Nippon Paint that Acting with the motto ‘and colors can be a powerful tool to express, resolve or signal a strategic selection process that plays a critical role in designing or recreating a space’ jury looks for projects that demonstrate the innovative and purposeful use of colors in spatial design and evaluates them by seeing how color is used in those projects.

The jury panel of the competition, which is open to participation between 16 November 2023 and 12 November 2024 and the finalists will be determined in May 2024, evaluates the submitted projects in three separate categories: architectural design, interior design and social area design. The criteria of the competition include features such as the distribution of color in the project, its participation in the design process, social and environmental integration, visual impact and its role in storytelling.

Şebnem Buhara, the founder of BOU Design Studio, who won the “Best Apartment Design” award with her Bebek Apartment, received her award from designer Erdem Akan.
